Business Planning Most people starting a business, recognise the value of a business plan. But even if they can prepare part of it, such as the operations or marketing plans, they may need assistance in translating those plans into financial projections. That’s where I come in. Working with the organisation, I produce cash flow forecasts, profit and loss accounts and balance sheets. Break-even analysis helps to show the minimum that the business needs to sell to survive. And, I explain to them the simplest way to produce monthly management accounts, which will help keep their business on track.
New projects, including training programmes, are usually initiated with a blaze of enthusiasm. But problems can occur afterwards, when nobody is sure how successful they were. Working in conjunction with the project sponsor, I establish objectives, and recommend ways of measuring their success. I then report on whether the project achieved what it set out to achieve. And my accounting expertise means that I can assess the effect on the 'bottom-line' for your organisation.
I successfully project manage training programmes and sports events. For example, I manage training programmes which include a series of workshops and assessments over an 18 month period. I organise sporting events, particularly those related to cricket. I am secretary of the Junior Committee of a leading Nottinghamshire cricket club. As such, I coordinate league entries, pitch bookings, award ceremonies, kwik-cricket tournaments for 8 junior teams and over 150 junior members. At Reading University, I was elected to be the first Athletic Union sabbatical officer and represented over 100 sporting and non-sporting clubs. After University I organised the Binder Hamlyn 'Olympics', a two day sporting and social event for over 600 people from 30 UK offices. |
